The Heritage School Athletic Mission Statement

Through athletic participation our students will develop the mind, body, and spirit through competitive experiences, teamwork, sportsmanship, and camaraderie.  As a staff, we will provide physical, intellectual, emotional, and social guidance of our athletes.  Together as an organization, we will develop a student athlete with life skills, so they may become a productive representative of their community.

Philosophy of Heritage School Athletic Program

The Heritage School athletic program is an integral part of the school’s overall mission to embrace the mind, body, spirit, and camaraderie in education.  The program is structured to assist the overall physical and personal development of the student athletes and to offer varied opportunities for leadership and participation.  Competition, as taught through athletics is sound experience for living in a competitive society.

Students who choose to participate in athletics carry a responsibility to the team, the school and themselves, as well as how they conduct themselves in all areas of school life.  Coaches should be diligent in reminding the student-athletes of the expectations regarding academic performance, behavior, and appearance.

Enthusiastic participation is a key element to a successful athletic program.  It is equally important that participation in the Heritage School’s athletic program be a positive learning experience for all student-athletes. Coaches should be conscious of the basic objectives that should be accomplished through participation in the athletics program, such as camaraderie, dependability, accountability, discipline, handling success and setbacks, experience in cultural diversity, physical fitness, team work, sportsmanship, fair play, and fun.
